Pork without meat? It’s possible with Impossible!

Silicon Valley-based company Impossible Foods is making plant-based ‘meat’ and it’s been gathering a lot of attention. Fast-food giant Burger King started selling burgers made with Impossible Beef – aptly named Impossible Whopper – in Missouri as what some believed to be an April Fools’ joke but people loved it so much that they’ve started to sell across America!

First was beef, now comes pork and sausages!

Following that success, Impossible Foods has now developed Impossible Pork to meet the demands of markets beyond the Western Hemisphere, particularly Asia. It’s difficult to tell it apart from regular pork at a glance and according to The Verge, the texture feels a little different but the taste is spot on.

They’re releasing Impossible Pork this year and though it’s still unclear if you can buy it groceries, you might be able to get a taste of its twin. They’re also selling Impossible Sausage, which will soon be available in select Burger Kings and as toppings on Little Caesar’s Impossible Supreme Pizza.

Here’s a little sneak peek from Impossible Foods.

Meat and Climate Change

By now you’re probably thinking… Why would you ever want to eat fake meat?

Aside from dietary and religious restrictions, a lot of people have been going vegan in order to help fight against climate change. The Guardian reported that meat factories take up 83% of farmland and are responsible for 63% of the agriculture’s greenhouse gas emissions.

We are living in a climate crisis and we only have a few years to avoid irreversible damage to our planet. You may think that you’re just an individual, a tiny dot among billions of our population, but small choices like what you eat can have a big impact on society.

Are you willing to try any of these plant-based ‘meats’?
