Succulents are the smallest and most beautiful type of plant we can use as green indoor decor. So if you’re looking for ideas to decorate your favourite cupcake, why not use succulents as well?
Well, not with real succulent plants — just realistic succulents made from fondant!
The cupcakes are first dipped in crushed crackers or biscuits to resemble soil. Depending on the flavour of your cupcakes, you can use a different ingredient to dip the cupcakes in, like Oreo cookies. If you have chocolate cupcakes to serve, you can even choose not to use crushed crackers anymore. Simply cut off the smooth layer of the cupcake on top to reveal the rough texture inside, and that can already serve as the ‘soil’!
Making the ‘succulent plant’ itself might look a bit difficult, but we guarantee it’s a fun project to do. And with just a few practice, you can easily learn how to make your succulent cupcakes look very real!
It’s definitely a creative and fun idea for serving cupcakes on any occasion! Just imagine the look on your guests’ faces when they realize the little succulents are actually cupcakes!

- 3 sizes of Floral Cookie Cutters
- Rolling Pin
- Fondant Knife
- Paint Brush
- Bowl of Water
